I Am What I Am

I am what I am.
Just a 15 year old girl trying to be pretty
Dark brown hair naturally but you’ll never see it like that.
Just a 15 year old girl trying to be outstanding
Trying to stand out so I don’t get stepped on like a doormat.
Just a 15 year old girl trying to be perfect
Lining my eyes with black, I need to look good.
Just a 15 year old girl who wants to be liked
Foundation won’t fix the problems, but makes me look as I should.
Maybe I’m insecure but at least I know that
I am what I am.

I am what I am.
Just a 15 year old girl trying to fit in
Don’t let them see you eat sweetie, that’s the thoughts I think.
Just a 15 year old girl whose head is all screwed up
Don’t cry in front of them, hold it in don’t blink.
Just a 15 year old girl who needs to be loved
Finding the love my father never gave in other men.
Just a 15 year old girl who shouldn’t be like this
Feeling used and broken again and again.
Just a 15 year old girl who feels like she doesn’t belong here
Depression is a disease that needs to be cured.
Just a 15 year old girl whose life is a mess.
This is the life I have endured.
Maybe I’m a mistake but at least I know that
I am what I am.
